But how can you be sure the power is back on

If the lights are on, is the power on

A few weeks ago a rather mundane wind storm hit our town. Neighbors reached out, informing me the power was out. The temperature was mild, the sun was out; I wasn’t expecting much disruption to the day-to-day operation of the home.

Dinner?

The plan was simple, throw some frozen veggies in the micro- well that isn’t going to work. I was firing the grill up anyway, we’ll grill all the things.

I quickly grabbed everything I would think I’d need from the fridge, meat, veggies from the freezer, and a pop for me. Then I quickly shut everything up to keep it as cold as possible. I then instructed the Tom and Huck not to open the fridge door, because the power wasn’t running, and everything in there would get warm.

They promptly disregarded that instruction.

“The light, is out”

Huck was astounded the light inside the refrigerator was out. This power outage didn’t register in his two-year old mind.

Halfway through eating we heard the beep, and every light in the house turned on, along with the TV, and a few other random electronics.

The power was obviously on.

Huck ran to the fridge, opened it up, “The light is on!”

Some people just need to confirm things for themselves.
