Losing weight, like a parent
“Mommy, I have a bite of yours?”
There’s one sure-fire way for a parent to lose weight: Moving your children to solid foods. As soon as that happens, they begin eating off your plate. Well, they begin eating off their mom’s plate.
The mommy diet
My wife is very accepting of our children asking for bites of her food. She hands over her sandwich, or bites of her perfectly grilled chicken. She’ll dole out spoonfuls of soup, cooled to the perfect temperature, and even hands over the cookies she’s snuck out of the pantry for herself. In her mind, the kids eating is more important than eating herself.
Daddy doesn’t share food!
The solution is simple. Hot sauce.
I put hot sauce on everything, keeping the boys from requesting any of my food. Even if they do, I have a built in excuse to not share. My philosophy is encouraging them to eat the food on their own plates. Especially considering it’s the same as the food that’s currently on my plate, minus the hot sauce.
It might be selfish, but it keeps me from being hungry all the time, and avoiding the dreaded mommy diet.
