The Hazards of Raising a Toddler

Having kids is wrought with danger. You’ll never know if what you do will be mimicked by them. This is especially true once they become toddlers.

I find myself constantly trying to do innocuous bad habits in private so Tom won’t notice. Have you ever done one of these:

1 – Thrown toys into the toy bin

2 – Changed the input settings on your tv

3 – Opened the cabinet with the brightly colored, but poisonous cleaning supplies

Great, now you have a child who’s throwing their toys around the house, messing up your TV mid-Mickey marathon, and trying to chug Windex out of the bottle.

But can we get even MORE innocuous.

Oh, we can!

Both of my children are huge music fans. Tom likes running around the house dancing and singing. And he’s extremely quick to pick up on songs if he really likes them. Huck goes from upset to smiling, laughing little blob every time TSwift comes on.

Of course I dance and sing along.

I could have never guessed that the “Shake it Off” dance would become a hazard.

Tom’s new favorite method of getting dried off after a bath; wait until I’m holding him, and spontaneously screaming “Shake it off!” while shaking water violently all over me.
